Just 4 days after our first 16 Liberian missionaries arrived, our 8 new elders arrived.
They are also experienced missionaries from other Africa West Area missions reassigned here
to help open the mission.

A side note: four of these elders - Bio, Hales, Randall and Verdoni - were all originally called to Liberia, but were reassigned when the mission closed. Only Elder Bio actually made it here. He served 7 weeks until being reassigned to Nigeria. The other 3 had their mission calls change before they got to the Ghana MTC.

The next morning, after President Carlson interviewed the elders, we gathered for an orientation. Afterwards, we let the elders help themselves to peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
with potato chips. They were pretty excited, as these delicacies were something they hadn't had at their previous missions.
